Teachers Notes

In this unit:

• All work relates to the National Curriculum Key Stage 2, Science Unit 2A, Health and Growth
• All work relates directly to the QCA scheme of work for Science
• There are five printable project sheets
• One interactive pupil online activity
• This project pack lays the foundation for work relating to feeding and growth to learn about ways we need to look after ourselves to stay healthy
• It focuses on developing the skills of experiment, investigation and communication of results
• It builds upon links with Unit 1A, Ourselves
• Pupils will identify some types of food that make up their diet and name some examples of each
• Pupils will recognise that an adequate diet and exercise are necessary for them to grow and stay healthy
• Pupils will describe some differences they observe, e.g. between adult and young animals
• Pupils will recognise that medicines can be dangerous
• Pupils can create charts
• There are extension activities for the quickest pupils
